Business conditions at more than 20 percent of
medical institutions in Japan have worsened
due to the coronavirus pandemic, with some
doctors saying they have been dismissed, while
others have been hit by salary reductions and
forced closures, according to a recent survey.

◆背景知識解説

新型コロナウイルスで多くの患者が搬送された医療機関。

医療関係者に大変な負担がかかったことはよく知られて
いる一方、実は経営状況も悪化しています。

「負担は大きかったものの、経営的には儲かっただろう」
と勘違いされることが多いのですが、

実はその逆で、コロナ患者対応のために、
他の患者さん用のベッドを開けておいたり、
手術を延期したりしたため、トータルでは、
入院患者数は減っています。

また、外来診療、あるいはクリニックでも、
コロナ患者との接触を恐れて、来院を自粛する
ケースが多く、これも影響しています。
