Japan reports first COVID-19 death as three more
domestic infection cases logged
A woman in her 80s infected with the new coronavirus
died Thursday, becoming Japan's first confirmed
fatality, health minister Katsunobu Kato said
Thursday evening, as more cases of domestic
infection were reported, in addition to hundreds on
a quarantined cruise ship in Yokohama Bay.

◆背景知識解説

中国武漢市で発生し、多くの感染者、死者を出している
新型コロナウイルス。
日本では、ほんとんどがクルーズ船での感染者で、
また死者も国内では出ていませんでしたが、
（武漢市在住の日本人の死者はすでに出ています）
先週木曜日から、クルーズ船以外での感染者数も続々と
発表になり、そして、国内での死者も出てしまいました。
亡くなったのは、神奈川県在住の80代の女性。
この方の娘さん、その旦那さん（義理の息子さん）も
感染しており、この２人は1月18日に屋形船で新年会
に参加されました。
この屋形船にはその前に武漢出身の中国人が乗船して
いたという情報があり、そこから感染したものと
考えられています。
