Only 19% of young voters go online for election info: survey

Only around a fifth of the nation's younger voters are using the
Internet to get information on political parties and their candidates,
a survey said Sunday.

The upcoming House of Councilors election is the first in which online
campaigning has been permitted.

この国の若い方の有権者のうち、たったの1/5ほどしか、政党や候補者の情報を
得るためにインターネットを使っていないと、日曜日調査が示した。

近く行われる参議院選挙はネット上での選挙活動が許されてから初めての選挙と
なる。

ネットでの選挙活動が原則禁止されていた日本ですが、今回の参議院選挙からは
解禁となりました。

「若い有権者の投票率を上げること」が目的の１つと言われていますが、残念な
がら、調査では若い有権者（20代）のたったの19パーセントしか、選挙情報を
得るためにネットを活用していないことがわかりました。

理由としては、興味がなかったり、そもそもネットでの選挙活動が解禁になった
ことを知らなかった人も多いようです。
